To capitalize on this craze, many banks and financial institutions have jumped on the credit card bandwagon. One of them is Citibank, a leading US bank who has introduced scores of such cards that are widely accepted throughout the world.

There are various types of citicards issued by Citibank

Citi® Bronze®/AAdvantage® MasterCard®is by far the most widely used card. It is essential for regular travelers with average credit. You can collect up to 25,000 miles annually, and can be redeemed for flights on partner airlines, hotel accommodations throughout the world, and car rentals. Additional benefits are: zero liability for unauthorized transactions, travel accident insurance and various Internet account associated services. The card does not charge any annual fee. But the drawback is the minimum APR cap for cash advances, set at 19.99%.

The other popular card is the Citi® mtvU™ Platinum Select® Visa® Card. It is specifically targeted towards college students. There is no minimum income level needed to get the card. But it has a minimum APR for cash advances of 19.99%. The card does not charge any annual fee and offers a minimum credit limit of $500. The most interesting aspect of this card is that you get a point for general purchase and each dollar spent at restaurants, movie theaters, record stores, bookstores, and video rentals, gives you 5 points.

The professionals looking to keep and manage all their personal and business expenses with a single credit card, can do so with the help of Citi® Professional Card. The general purchase fetches 1 point per dollar spent. Every dollar spent at specific office supply merchants, gas stations, restaurants, and on auto rentals, fetches 3 points. You can get a maximum of 100,000 points and redeem them for air travels, goods and gift certificates. It does not carry any annual fee and no minimum and maximum credit limits are applicable.

Those with extremely good credit, can opt for Citi® Upromise® Card. This card fetches you a 10% rebate on specific purchases of more than 7,000 grocery and medical items. Also gas purchases at Exxon and Mobil places give you a 2% rebate and other purchases earn 1% rebate.
